Measure would track sex offenders for life

SACRAMENTO -

Gov. Schwarzenegger and Republican lawmakers unveiled sweeping legislation Tuesday that would require convicted sex offenders to be tracked by a satellite surveillance system for life.
Under the bill, sex offenders also could not live within 2,000 feet of a school.

Riverside County Deputy District Attorney Rod Pacheco said he and several state GOP lawmakers have been asking Schwarzenegger to help lead efforts to toughen penalties for sex offenders.
"I am glad the governor has joined the fight. This is definitely going to make a difference," Pacheco said.

good thinking arnold. I hate teh fact that when you go on megan'slaw .gov there is a list of hundreds of people within 5 miles from me and my kids that are offenders it makes me sick we must remember as women these are not just people that hurt kids they are men that rape women and children. Do not be fooled though there is alot of women who are registered as well. are world is so far from safe any more.

you can also go to throwawaythekey.org and find your state's petition, sign it, and send it in. the petitions request specifics for tougher laws against child molesters.
